The Silver Snake

Welcome to The Silver Snake. I’ve been an admirer of vintage jewellery for well over a decade now. In particular, I love the clean lines of modernist silver from Scandinavia and Mexico, as well as Scottish silver – with or without agates. And I also love guilloche enamel.

Aside from these specialisms, I’m also drawn to anything with a naturalistic theme, whether leaves, trees, shells or animals generally. So it’s no surprise that I love jewellery made from natural substances, such as wood and amber – although I also like man-made materials like Bakelite!

Another jewellery-related interest of mine is repurposing vintage and antique items – e.g. buttons – to make unique pieces of jewellery. I like to create things that are hard-wearing but can easily be disassembled… so if I don’t want to wear that button bracelet any more, the buttons can be retrieved in their original form without a loss in value. Jewellers’ glue doesn’t figure largely in my toolkit.

What about me as a person? I’m 50-something and live with Mr Snake, my partner of 17 years’ standing, in a decaying English seaside town. We have a large white cat and a very, very large book collection.

I have a shop on Etsy, which is called VintagePointUK. If you want to see it, you can do so here.
