Our secretarial services

Copy typing, letter writing, audio transcription and editing services. We work remotely but are based in Thanet and can travel anywhere in Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Birchington or Westgate subject to a call-out fee

Maybe you have to write an important letter, and need help to get your thoughts down on paper. Alternatively you may know exactly what to write, but just want someone to type it up for you. Perhaps you’ve written your memoirs, and need an accurate typed transcript so that you can get them published. Or you’re a local small business that requires occasional secretarial help, but you don’t want the administrative burden of taking on a salaried employee.

If you’re looking for a fast, accurate secretarial service, then we can help you with many of your secretarial needs, including letter writing, audio transcription and copy typing. Simply phone us during office hours (9 am to 6 pm, Mon – Fri). Or text/email us any time, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Call, text or email for a no-strings consultation.

What does it cost?

It really does depend on the individual but to give you an idea, our normal hourly rate for secretarial work is £20. Alternatively, we’re happy to charge by the item. For example, if you need some copy typing done from longhand, it will cost £7.50 per side of A4 paper, with a minimum charge of £25 and a small extra cost for a printed rather than an email version. A short, simple letter plus typed envelope would typically be £20 – £25.

When it comes to audio transcription, our minimum fee is £25 but above that, we charge £1.75 per minute of audio for an intelligent verbatim transcript, with a small discount for longer jobs. Here is a scale of charges to give you an idea of what to expect:

  • Up to 15 minutes of audio – £25.00
  • 15 minutes of audio – £26.25
  • 30 minutes of audio – £50.00
  • One hour of audio – £95.00
  • Two hours of audio – £180.00

If that sounds a lot it’s because on average, one minute of audio takes at least four minutes to transcribe accurately.

There may be a small extra charge for files with difficult audio and/or strong accents or multiple speakers. If we feel an extra charge is necessary, we will always clear this with you first before starting any job.

Proof-reading and internet research for spelling is included for all transcription jobs, although there will be the odd occasion where Google can’t help! Any such instances will be flagged with a timestamp, along with any inaudibles.

What is intelligent verbatim transcription?

Intelligent verbatim preserves the full meaning of what’s been said, but it cuts out any stuttering, false starts, repetitions and filler words/phrases such as “you know” or “like”. This is the default method of transcription that we use – if you want full verbatim or clean verbatim, let us know and we’ll get back to you with a price.

As the name suggests, full verbatim leaves all the stuttering and false starts in, and also indicates where there are non-spoken sounds such as laughter and crying. Clean verbatim is as for full verbatim, but minus the stuttering and laughter/crying.

We can also do more heavily edited transcriptions if required – contact us for a quote.

Editing and writing services

We also provide an editing and writing service. Our speciality is turning technical and medical jargon into precise, readable English but we can also offer general help with wording, grammar and spelling whatever the type of material you have.

Where we work

We mainly work remotely but can do on-site work if needed, subject to a call-out fee which varies depending on where you are. If you would like to meet in person to discuss your needs, please call, text or email to arrange a date/time/venue.
